FAQs

  • I am a mental health counselor that specializes in trauma and complex PTSD. I use multiple approaches including attachment therapy, Internal Family Systems, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Polyvagal Theory, Heart Rate Variability and more. I’m always learning more, and adding to what I know to assist those I work with. My goal is to find what works for you so that you can move forward with your life. My job is to work myself out of a job, and I rejoice when those I work with graduate from therapy.

    • It is incredibly important to learn about yourself and start to feel safe and social.  My focus is to assist you in learning how to feel this when you may not ever have experienced this.  I always start therapy with learning different skills, and helping you be able to repair the mind body connection.

    • Look here for more information on EMDR: https://www.emdria.org/about-emdr-therapy/

  • The focus is on being able to manage the body and its experience with our mind before we touch our thoughts.  Often people can create defenses that include overthinking, perfectionism, hyper learning, and intellectualizing to manage their symptoms.  Understanding what we’re going through is incredibly important and does not assist with the way our body experiences the increases in long term stress.  Bottom up means starting with the body, and allowing the mind to follow.

  • Your experience in the world is incredibly important.  What you went through matters.  You do not need to justify your reasons for seeking support and therapy.  Throughout this experience I hope you learn that what you experience is important, that how you experienced it was difficult and mattered.

  • I am not able to prescribe medication.  If you are in need for support with medications we will collaborate, and look for a prescriber together.

  • I do not work with Couples or Families.  A part of treatment may include a family meeting to support you in understanding how your family can support you in your journey, as well as give them the opportunity to ask questions.  Again, this is a choice that you get to make.  A lot of people choose to not include their families in treatment, both ways are valid.

  • No I do not. Working with children is highly specialized, and I admire those that do. My training is working with individual adults.

  • Not at this moment, but hopefully in the future.

  • I do take Blue Cross Blue Shield Commercial, United Healthcare, UMR, Tufts Health Commercial, Harvard Pilgrim, and other Optum products. Please reach out to your insurance regarding your benefits.

  • Yes, I do! All major credit cards and HSA’s and FSA cards are accepted through the online portal.

  • If you are choosing to pay out of pocket my rate is $200 for the first session, and $150 for the next session afterwards.

I do provide superbills that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

  • I require a credit card on file to assist you with copays and deductibles.  Payment is put on “autopay” which means payment will be taken out by 12pm the day of the appointment.

I require cancellation within 24 hours of your appointment and have a $120 no show or late cancellation fee.
