Elevate Your Healing with the Power of Ketamine-Assisted Therapy
Are you ready to unearth the path to healing through Ketamine Treatment?
At Candace Dickinson Counseling Services LLC, we specialize in helping individuals navigate the complexities of trauma. If you feel blocked or stuck, our compassionate approach to integrating Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) can open new avenues for emotional release and personal growth.
Healing from trauma is not just about moving forward; it’s about reconnecting with parts of yourself that may have felt lost for a long time. With the use of Ketamine as a tool in therapy, we guide you through a transformative experience that has the potential to bring clarity and renewed hope.
Let’s work together to break free from the barriers that hold you back. Your journey toward healing and freedom starts here.
-
KAP is a therapeutic approach that combines the use of ketamine, a dissociative anesthetic, with psychotherapy. Ketamine helps create an altered state of consciousness that can support deeper emotional processing, insight, and healing. During KAP, clients are guided by a trained therapist to explore thoughts, emotions, and memories that may be difficult to access in traditional therapy.
-
Ketamine affects the brain’s glutamate system, promoting new neural connections and allowing for greater neuroplasticity. This can help "unstick" entrenched thought patterns and emotional responses. When combined with psychotherapy, ketamine can enhance introspection and emotional processing, facilitating breakthroughs in healing.
-
KAP can be beneficial for individuals struggling with:
PTSD and complex trauma
Narcissistic abuse recovery
Anxiety disorders
Depression (including treatment-resistant depression)
Emotional blocks or feeling stuck in traditional therapy
-
In my practice, ketamine is administered sublingually (lozenges) in collaboration with an outside prescriber. Clients will need to arrange their prescription and medication appointments separately, as these costs are not included in my service fees.
If you are receiving IV ketamine or other forms of ketamine administration outside of my office, I can still support you with preparation and integration sessions, and I can offer personalized music suggestions and an introduction to help guide your experience.
-
Preparation and Integration Sessions: $150 per hour.
Medicine-assisted sessions are reimbursed based on time, also at $150 per hour. These usually last 3 hours so can cost $450 each.
Please note: The cost of ketamine medication and prescriber appointments is not included in my fees.
-
Yes, when administered by trained professionals in a controlled environment, KAP is considered safe. Clients are screened for medical and psychological contraindications, and the experience is closely monitored to ensure safety and comfort.
-
No. Ketamine induces a dissociative state but does not render you unconscious. Most clients experience a shift in perception, such as feeling detached from their thoughts or body, but they remain aware of their environment and can communicate with their therapist.
-
The number of sessions varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some clients find meaningful progress after a few sessions, while others may benefit from an extended treatment plan. Integration sessions are key to maximizing results.
-
Possible short-term side effects include dizziness, nausea, dissociation, or mild confusion, which usually subside within a few hours. Clients are advised to have someone available to drive them home post-session.
-
KAP may be a good fit if you have struggled with traditional therapy approaches, feel stuck in your healing, or are facing depression, anxiety, or trauma that hasn’t responded to other treatments. We’ll conduct an initial assessment to determine if KAP aligns with your needs and goals.
-
Currently, ketamine-assisted sessions are not covered by insurance. However, integration and preparation sessions may be eligible. I can provide guidance on potential reimbursement options.
-
Before your session, we’ll guide you through setting intentions and ensuring mental and physical readiness. It’s also recommended to avoid heavy meals and alcohol beforehand.
-
If you are receiving ketamine through another provider, I can still support you with:
Preparation and Integration: Helping you set intentions and process insights afterward.
Music Options: Offering personalized music suggestions to support your experience.
Personalized Introduction: Providing a customized introduction or framework to guide your experience and deepen your sense of safety.
This approach ensures that you are fully supported throughout your journey, whether you’re working directly with me during sessions or receiving ketamine through another provider.
-
Yes! KAP can be an effective adjunct treatment to complement ongoing therapy with another provider. I can collaborate with your primary therapist (with your consent) to ensure cohesive support. My focus will be on preparation, the ketamine experience, and integration, while your primary therapist continues to guide your broader therapeutic work.
